A rather odd looking figure continued to pace back and forth down the massive corridors of Beacon academy. First heading one way, then back toward where he had came. Down another hallway and past a corner. And then it was clear, he was defiantly lost.
*thump*
His luggage slammed against the floor with a solid sound as the young man raised one hand to scratch at the side of his head. "I was sure it was this way..." He said to himself as he looked around rather confused. "Why does this place have to be so big anyways..." He muttered before picking up his things and continuing his way down the halls.
A soft sigh escaped young Alibaster's lips as he dug a small sheet of paper out from his pocket with his dorm number on it. He had only been at the school for a few hours and he had already managed to get himself completely lost. Although after turning another corner he found himself letting out another sigh, but this time in relief. On either side of the hall were doors, clearly labeled as dorms. There was just one problem. He had no idea what one was his.
His brow furrowed for a moment as he contemplated how to go about the situation. Deciding it would be best if he asked someone for help. So he made his way to the closest door. As he slowly began to turn the knob he softly spoke up, peaking his head inside. "Excuse me. But could anyone here be of assistance?"
Soma sighed as she stepped out of the hot shower. Her teammates hadn't arrived yet, so she took her time to get comfortable. The steam felt good on her reptilian skin, so she took a moment to sit and enjoy it while she gently filed the claws on her right hand. It was good to keep them sharp and polished. When she had finished, she stood and grabbed a towel from the stack in the cabinet that Beacon had thoughtfully provided. She immediately dried her prosthetic arm and leg, wanting to avoid any water damage, then the rest of her body before wrapping the towel around herself. She took one more towel and wrapped her long, straight hair up in it before walking out into the main dorm room, flicking the bathroom door closed with her tail.
She rumaged around in her duffel bag for a fresh set of clothes, but heard the door knob turning. She immediately realized that she had forgotten to lock the door, and whiped around when she heard an unfamiliar voice. "Who are you!?" she yelled at the stranger, throwing the nearest object at their face, which happened to be one of her shoes. "Get out! Get out!" she continued yelling, dashing for the door and slamming it, quickly latching the deadbolt. Her face was red hot with blush, and she was breathing quite heavily for a moment.
Taking a second to collect herself, she decided she could have handled the situation better. "Just wait out there a minute!" she shouted through the door, "I'm going to get some clothes on, then let you in." She quickly got on the first outfit she found, a pair of cargo shorts and a graphic tee shirt, then opened the door to the stranger. "Hi. Sorry I freaked out on you. You just surprised me is all."
As the young man continued to Crack the door open wider several things started to catch his attention. First off the room itself seemed rather odd. After all he was sure he was near the dormitories, although the tile on the floor of the room seemed rather out of place. And then there was the massive snake that seemed to be hiding in the small space as well.
Although as his eyes began to track the long reptilian coil something caught his eye. A smoth pair of feet that traced upward, eventually seeming to collide with the snake just under the thin layer of a towel. It was then that Alibaster knew exactly what he was looking at. His eyes began to grow wide and his face started to turn a soft red as the girl began to shout at him.
He didn't even have time to respond to her in his flustered state before his thoughts were interrupted by a shoe to the face. The young man stumbled backward, the door slamming in his face as he fell flat on his but in the hall. "B... but that is the lavitory... I don't need in." He said embarrassed at the closed wooden door. Slowly he began to make his way to his feet after the small fiasco, intent on getting out of there as soon as possible. Although as the girl suddenly burst out of the room he couldn't help but jump a little l, unsure of how she was going to react to his unintentional peeping. "Please forgive me miss." He said clasping his hands together in front of himself. "I swear I'm not a pervert."
Soma was still very embarassed by having been caught almost naked by the boy who stood before her now, profusely appologizing. "It's okay," she started, "I believe you. I should've remember to lock the door instead of being so absent-minded. My name's Soma, by the way." At this, she stuck out her right hand, which was her real arm. Her iguana claws glistened, having been freshly filed and buffed right out of the shower. She smiled a little half-smile, which was about all she could manage in a post-flustered state.
As Alibaster stood there in front of the girl he found himself rather bewildered. After all he had just busted in on her changing, but it was more than that. He had never really met to many fanus before, let alone ones with cybernetic parts.
But when she began speaking up Alibaster's fascination soon faded. Her words causing a soft look of confusion as he wondered how she could have possibly forgot to lock the door. "That does seem rather absent minded." He said rather bluntly before noticing the girls outstretched hand toward him. He extended his own, gently holding her hand and giving a soft bow. "Again I'm terribly sorry ms. Soma." He said standing back upright. "You may call me Key." He said with a soft smile.
Soma frowned when the boy almost nonchalantly passed all blame of the issue onto her, but when he took her hand and bowed she supposed he didn't mean anything by it. She could see past him in the hallway that he had lugged his bags all the way, so he must be looking for his dorm. When he stood upright she turned to rummage through her duffel and find her hairbrush, but continued to foster conversation regardless. "Right, well, was there something I could help you with, Key?"
After a quick look through the bag she found what she was looking for and began the task of brushing her long, straight hair. It grew so thick that if she didn't brush it quickly after bathing it would tangle and be a horrible mess. She began with long, deliberate strokes while she turned and listened to what Key had to say.

As Soma spoke up Alibaster perked up a little. "Oh yes!' He said with a smile as he stood up straight. Taking his hand back from the girl he quickly reached into his pocket pulling out a small slip of paper. As he opened it he seemed to study the number written down for a moment before giving a soft grumble. "You see I was looking for my dorm. And seem to have gotten lost." He said as he held the paper out toward the odd reptilian girl.
"You wouldn't happen to know where it is would you?"
The faunus glanced at the number written on the piece of paper. '214. That's my room,' Soma thought, handing it back to him. She brushed past him and looked at the door to make sure she hadn't misremembered. "Um, you seem to have found it," she said, gesturing to the brass number on the door. With that, a smile cracked on her face and she couldn't help but find the situation funny. The boy seemed so flustered over not being able to find his room, and yet he had barged into it while she was getting dressed. She had to hold back a laugh and turn to continue brushing her hair just so he wouldn't see it.

As Soma took the piece of paper from his hands he felt slightly relieved. At least he wasn't quite as lost now that he had a guide. Although what she said next caught him rather off guard. A mixture of embarrassment and confusion coming over him. "N..no that can't be right." He said snatching the paper back and nervously looking at the number. "If this is my dorm... Then What are you doing in here?" He said stuffing the small parchment back into his pocket.
He had never really had to deal with anything like this before. After all back home he had a room all to himself, and a rather large one at that. This space was cramped, and dusty. Not to mention the fact that there were way to many beds. It was then that it hit him, he wasn't going to be alone. A slight look of terror crossed his face as he tried to wrap his head around the aituation. "No this won't do... ill... I'll just have to go talk with the headmaster.."
Soma crossed her arms and looked Key over. Judging by his luggage, her certainly seemed wealthy. While it was true that the faunus had recently never known want herself, she still appreciated all she had because her past was not exactly fortunate. This boy didn't seem to have that same appreciation for the oppoturnity he was being afforded by being accepted here, and it was apparent that she was going to have to spend a considerable amount of time with this whining if it turned out they had been paired up as team mates. Is that what the initiation in the Emerald Forest had determined? Soma figured she'd find out soon enough when they were called in for the official ceremony later that day.
In the meantime, she decided to snap this boy out of whatever he was on about. Narrowing her eyes, she took a step towards him and slapped him. She didn't pull it, either, and the sting of his Aura against her palm was quite real, so she was sure he felt it. "Quite your pouting, you. You're lucky to even be at Beacon, and none of us are in any position to complain about the lodgings. Be grateful it's not cots or hammocks instead." She turned away, huffing out a small sigh and tossed her brush back into her bag. "I can't believe I have to spend four years with this," she said, stretching out on the bed she had claimed as her own.
[OOC: I think we can assume that Key and Soma had different partners during the Emerald Forest innitiation, but were lumped into the same team based on their artifact. This thread could take place between the time they got back from the Emerald Forest and the ceremony where the teams are announced.]

Alibaster continued to become more flustered by the moment as the idea of being stuck with a roommate continued to dawn on him. It was then that the young man seemed to notice something. His eyes darted across the room as he noticed his count was completely off. Not only was there a bed for himself and the reptilian girl. But there seemed to be two others as well. His brow began to twitch for a moment as he started to turn toward soma yet again. As he started to open his mouth to protest once more he quickly found himself silenced by the sting of the girls hand across his face.
He simply stood there stunned for a few moments seeming to look off into nothingness as his senses started to come back to him. Although the girls words seemed to pass straight over his head as his concerns with the lodging were soon forgotten. One of his hands slowly rose to his cheek as he softly rubbed the sore spot, his eyes glaring at the girl. "Y...you..." He started to stammer out, rather confused with what was happening. After all he had never been struck before, let alone by a girl. "You hit me...."
Soma folded her arms again as Key gave her a stunned look in response to the palm she had put across his face. "Of course I hit you," she said, impatiently raising an eyebrow, "somebody needed to. You're acting like a spoiled child." Soma's tail began to slowly lash from side to side unconciously as she became increasingly more and more annoyed. In an attempt to distract herself, she sat down on the bed she had claimed as her own, which had a window view.
The faunus lifted and hitched her right leg, revealing the inner workings and the two .50 caliber gun barrels tucked inside the thigh. The barrels slid themselves about four inches out of her knee, much slower than they normally would have if there had been recoil behind the movement. She retrieved a microfiber cloth and a spray can of grease from her bag on the floor and began making sure everything was dry from her shower and applying the grease in all the nooks and crannies, rubbing it off of the outside surfaces so it glistened a dull gunmetal grey.
Alibaster's hand slowly fell back to his side, his cheek still rather red from the slap. He sort of pouted a little as he tried to figure out what to do. After all it wasn't like he was going to slap her back, although the thought did come across his mind. As he turned to glare at the girl his mouth slowly began to open in protest once more. And yet again he was silenced by the intimidating girl in front of him. Although this time it was from the sting of her words, not her palm. "Spoiled..." He said, his brow twitching with frustration. "You can't just go around talking to people like that!"He said as he quickly followed after the girl whom had made her way further into the room. "I mean have you no manners! Your acting like some sort of ani-" Suddenly the young man froze solid, realizing just what he had almost said to the girl. "Wait... I.. I didn't mean.." He said nervously taking a step back.
Soma half-listened to Key as he sputtered on about how she was somehow in the wrong, lacking manners and how she apparently had none, as if he had a right to speak about manners after he had blundered in on her nearly naked. Her hands immediately froze when she heard a certain set of words that were being directed at her. As if he knew, Key stopped before he completed the sentence, his ramblings turning into slightly confused, appolagetic stuttering. The faunus closed her eyes and held up her artificial hand for silence.
"I know you didn't mean it like that," she said, her voice calm and level. She looked up, opening her eyes and straightening her leg so the rifle barrels folded back in. "Look, I get that you're a little dissapointed that maybe these accomadations aren't up to snuff for you, but if this is how it's going to be for four years, we need to settle this here and now." She stood and folded her arms, adopting a nonchalant expression.
"I'll appologize for hitting you if you agree to stop this nonsense about sharing a space with others. After all, you do know how many other students have been here before us, right? They're not about to change the policy anytime soon, so we might as well just get along as best we can." With that, she unfolded her arms and looked at her left hand, flexing it and turning it over to inspect it the same way she had done her leg.

Alibaster stood as stiff as a board as the words had begun to escape his lips. His hands reaching up to grasp his chest softly as he took another slight step back, afraid the girl would retaliate once more. Although her response was anything but. Instead it was the kind of verbal talking down too that Key was much more used to. His head lowered as the girl continued to speak to him. "Sorry miss.." He said, sounding almost rehearsed as he tried his best to keep his temper down. After all if he was going to spend the next four years with the girl it would probably be best to stay on her good side.
"I'll do my best to cease." He said with a soft bow, turning around to walk back into the hall. Not a moment later he was caring his things into the room, dropping them in front of one of the vacant beds. He took a step forward and threw himself flat onto the mattress. As he laid there a soft grumble escaped his lips. "It's not even soft..." He mumbled quietly to himself, not wanting to let Soma hear him complain.
He turned his head slowly, glancing off to the side at the reptilian girl messing with her arm. "We're you in an accident or something?" He said slightly curious. Ater all why else would she have such unique limbs, unless she was the kind whom wanted the augmentation.
